I think i figured out what  I want to do…. I just used an old sketch from my drawing book and used my iphone and dropbox to get it to the computer. I’ve just been messing around in photoshop but I like the eyes so far (especially the multicolored aspect!) c(:

Monday (May 13, 2013)

I didn’t post this yesterday (Monday) because it wouldn’t let me… but I’m hoping it works today! On Monday I spent most of my class time brainstorming ideas for my poster /framed design. I also presented my guest blog, sent my goal, etc.

I can think of color schemes but I just can’t think of concepts and drawing ideas. D:

Wish me luck!

After any class, you’re bound to pick up a few tips and tricks. As a third year student I probably have more than I’ll be able to remember, x)

A few shortcuts I couldn’t live without are:

  • #1. Command + Z (Undo)

  • #2. Command + C (Copy)

  • #3. Command + V (Paste)

  • #4. Shift + Command + 4 (Screenshot/Save to Desktop)

  • #5. Shift + Control + Command + 4 (Screenshot/Save to Clipboard)

Another thing I love (Especially for drawing) is the ‘Opacity Lock’ option and ‘Use Previous Layer to Create Clipping Mask’

Both options allow you to draw and then color over your lines/previous drawing without messing anything up.(:  It’s super handy and quick when you’re coloring and it made my Macbeth project much more manageable. I was able to throw one color on top of another and blend it together without worrying about getting out of the lines.

It’s a time saver for sure. Other programs (like Paint Tool Sai [which I often use at home] also have the option.

Here’s one more example of that.

Tuesday (May 07, 2013)

My computer ” froze ” before I could log out today. The problem was actually a lot sillier and not a big deal in the end… anyway. On Tuesday I worked on my InDesign project and when all the pen-tooling was starting to get to me, I put it in photoshop and did some coloring. I have to say… Photoshop is definitely more my thing than the other Adobe programs. :’)

Tuesday (April 30, 2013)

Today I started working on an Illustrator project… This project was mentioned in a class announcement post and I thought it sounded pretty cool. : ) Anyway! I figured since the first step is to have a pre-drawn sketch, it’d be easier to pull an old one than start something compeletely new. I found a picture I drew at an AHS baseball game the other day and expanded on it.

so anyway… my main focus today was getting a solid sketch. 🙂

Today Mrs. Frascht showed me how to use iMovie and in two words? It’s awesome. I experimented with sound and transitions (and other similar things) for the first half of class and for the second, I searched out some textures and decided to fix part of my picture from yesterday. I ended up finding a really great texture blog (with a weird name… ignore that part…) it’s here x)

Wednesday (April 03, 2013)

Well today is Wednesday and this week is just giving me a hard time, I swear.(‘: I said I’d like to work on my Macbeth project here in class but I feel like I don’t know quite what I’m doing yet. I’d like to draw out scenes from it and play it like a movie. Obviously, I won’t be able to animate it all cause’ animating in photoshop is a pain in the butt and there’s eleven pages to do…  My biggest problem right now is that I don’t even know what program to put it together on. I have Movie Maker at home (or at least I’m pretty sure I do) and could try that. I think there’s also a program in class I could use but I don’t know anything about it yet. My last problem is with sound – we’d like to add narration, voices and possibly sound effects if we could… I just don’t know how. If anybody out there has any ideas….y’know. help meeee. x)

Okay. So today I decided to work on the painful task that is drawing backgrounds… I have a whole bunch of scenes to do and after this painful attempt , I’m thinking I may be in over my head. I could make it look nice if I had enough time… but this isn’t just one picture I’m needing to do… it’s ten or more.

After I realized that, I became a little hopeless… but then I remembered the Mixer Brush and while I’m still not 100% on using it (it feels like cheating :/) It’s SO much quicker and looks about 50,000 times better.

I’m not sure what I’ll decide to do in the end but for now it’s nice to have options…
